Cromwell's report says Hockey Canada expressed that changes were just not "well-suited" for the organization, like making its financial statements available to the public.

Although Hockey Canada has achieved considerable financial success over the years, Hockey Canada is concerned that being seen as an organization with 'deep pockets' could create some negative implications. For example, this could have an effect on their bargaining power with respect to the settlement of lawsuits, and this could also influence the amount of money that sponsors would be willing to offer in the future. This is not to mention the fact that the media could use this information to depict a negative image of the organization."

This year, Charity Intelligence filed 108 access-to-information requests. This is an utter waste of our time and your tax dollars. These financial statements should be publicly posted on a government website in the public interest. Also, money is wasted on redacting information from non-profit statements. These are public organizations to serve a public benefit. No other country redacts public statements.

And thank you to the media who dug up these documents and gave us permission to share them with you in the public interest.
