OVERVIEW
About Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of Canada:
Founded in 1929, Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of Canada (Inter-Varsity) works to inspire and support youth and students to follow Jesus through summer camps and university campus groups. The charity states that “the purpose of Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of Canada is the transformation of youth, students and graduates, in all their ethnic diversity, into committed followers of Jesus Christ.” Inter-Varsity reports that only one in three young people who grew up attending church, still attend today.
The charity’s Campus program includes groups that offer Bible studies, leadership development, prayer groups, social events, and outreach opportunities.
Inter-Varsity operates a summer camp that provides a safe space where youth can explore the outdoors and take part in intentional activities and mentorships that foster their spiritual development. The camp also offers rentals and retreats for church groups.
Inter-Varsity runs short-term mission trips for youth, including both ministry trips with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students and local service trips to serve in urban centres. The charity runs Urbana, a triennial student mission conference that brings together university students, pastors, church leaders, and schools.
