OVERVIEW

About Mission Inclusion:

Mission Inclusion is a 1-star rated charity with low impact, best practice in financial transparency and below average accountability to donors as seen in the B- results reporting grade. For every dollar donated to this charity, 57 cents go to the cause. This is outside Ci's reasonable range for overhead spending.

Founded in 1981, Mission Inclusion (officially The Jules and Paul-Emile Leger Foundation) raises funds to finance projects in Quebec, Africa, Asia and Latin America that help people living in hunger and poverty or reduce social exclusion of marginalized people. Mission Inclusion divides its program spending into Canadian and International activities – in F2021, international programs were 79% of program costs and Quebec programs were the remaining 21%.

In F2021, Mission Inclusion ran 29 international projects that supported a total of 681,164 people in 13 countries. In F2021, the charity ran a training program for women in Burkina Faso to acquire the skills needed to perform jobs in male-dominant fields. Thanks to this program, 20 women earned certificates in bodywork, mechanics and electronics. The charity also created three protected areas in Nigeria for women to access support, referrals and skills training. Further, Mission Inclusion supported five community health centres and three maternity clinics in Haiti through its PROSAMI program.

In F2021, Mission Inclusion also supported 31,949 people in 58 projects across 14 regions of Quebec. The Ateliers à la Terre program provides a 2,000 square metre vegetable garden that allows local residents to get involved in gardening and learn about self-sufficiency. In F2021, 130 people were involved in this program.

Results and Impact

In F2021, Mission Inclusion supported the installation of water tanks in Peru in order to provide clean water to households and crops. The charity states that better yields, greater food diversity and more harvests improved the quality of life of 10 families and 50 individuals.

From 2016-2021, Mission Inclusion ran a maternal and child health program in Haiti, called PROSAMI, with a goal of reducing maternal and child mortality rates. Over the course of the program, 7,835 women gave birth safely and 13,359 women received four prenatal visits. The charity also states that nearly 21,000 children under the age of one received three doses of vaccines protecting against major infections.

While Ci highlights these key results, they may not be a complete representation of Mission inclusion's results and impact.

Charity Intelligence has given Mission Inclusion a Low impact rating based on demonstrated impact per dollar spent.
