About Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation:
Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation (FMHF) raises funds to support healthcare and promote wellness at The Moncton Hospital. FMHF focuses on purchasing equipment, updating technology, and renovating spaces for the hospital.
In F2018, Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation granted $2.0m to the hospital. Its grants have fluctuated, from as high as $5.6m in F2014 to as low as $805k in F2016. Funds raised in the foundation’s F2018 campaign were used to purchase equipment, including an O-Arm so neurosurgeons can see three-dimensional images of the spine while performing surgery, as well as five newborn beds for the Labour and Birthing Unit.
Results and Impact: Over 10,000 surgeries performed yearly in the hospital use minimally invasive techniques. Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation states in its 2018 Your Gifts at Work report that the hospital’s investment in modern technology and equipment involved in these surgical techniques has attracted three surgeons within a year.
Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation is a medium-sized charity with donations of $2.7m in F2018. Its administrative and fundraising costs were 42% of revenues less investment income. For every dollar donated, 58 cents go to the cause, falling outside of Ci’s reasonable range for overhead spending. FMHF has total funding reserves of $14.2m that can cover its program costs for 7.1 years.
