OVERVIEW
About Christian Aid Ministries Canada:
Christian Aid Ministries Canada is a 1-star charity. It has poor disclosure with a D results reporting grade. It holds reserves within Ci’s reasonable range. For every dollar donated to Christian Aid Ministries Canada, 96 cents are available to go to the cause.
Founded in 1984, Christian Aid Ministries Canada (legally Christian Aid Ministries of Waterloo) acts as a channel for Amish and Conservative Mennonite churches and individuals in Canada to provide physical and spiritual aid around the world. Through a joint venture with its US counterpart in Berlin, Ohio, the charity supplies food, clothing, medicine, seeds, Bibles, and other Christian literature to children and families in countries such as Haiti, Syria, Liberia, Nicaragua and Romania. It also runs programs to help families become self-sufficient, rebuilds homes for disaster victims in Canada and the US, and responds to crises such as war and famine abroad.
The charity reports that an estimated 3.3 million children are exploited for profit worldwide. Wars in Liberia and Syria have orphaned children and displaced families, keeping nearly three in five Syrian refugee children out of school. In Haiti, roughly 40% of the population can't read or write.
Christian Aid Ministries Canada (CAMC) runs 45 programs. These can be grouped into five categories: Spiritual Aid; Material Aid; Family and Individual Sponsorships; Economic Empowerment and Crisis Response; and Where Most Needed. In the fiscal year ending March 2025 (F2025), Ci calculates the charity spent $15.3m on its programs and grants. The charity does not disclose how this spending was allocated across its programs.
Spiritual Aid focuses on evangelism, Bible distribution, and Christian education. Programs include providing Bibles and biblical teaching materials, running discipleship initiatives, and supporting Christian schooling and missions work in regions like Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The charity reports that CAMC's Bible story books have been translated into 80 languages. In 2022, the charity distributed 12.1 million copies of its Seed of Truth and Antorcha de la Verdad magazines, which provide biblical teaching material for children, youth, and adults. In Eastern Europe, more than 1,140 students are enrolled in Christian-centered schools supported by the charity's Christian Schooling for Eastern Europe program in Romania.
Material Aid provides basic necessities such as food, water, clothing, and medicine to impoverished communities. Programs include hunger relief, food parcels for Syrian refugees, clean water access, warm clothing, blankets, and medical supplies. In 2023, the charity distributed roughly 42,100 gallons of milk. More than 370 medical outlets receive donated medicines through the Medicines for Multitudes program each year.
Family and Individual Sponsorships offers direct, ongoing support to vulnerable individuals and families. Programs include sponsorships for widows, orphans, the elderly, and the disabled, as well as initiatives like Child Rescue, Sponsor-A-Child, and Adopt-A-Family. The charity supplies textbooks, school supplies, and a warm meal each school day for more than 4,800 students at 20 schools in Haiti.
Economic Empowerment & Crisis Response aims to build self-sufficiency and respond to emergencies. Programs include microfinance and savings initiatives, worker support programs, and rapid response services for international and refugee crises. In 2023, the charity distributed 23,388 parcels of food and healthcare items for recipients in Liberia, Haiti, Nicaragua, Romania, Moldova, India, and the Middle East.
Where Most Needed provides unrestricted funding directed to wherever it can have the greatest impact across the charity's programs, based on current need rather than a designated cause.

Finances
Christian Aid Ministries Canada is not fully financially transparent. The charity does not post its audited financial statements on its website; Ci received them upon direct request. CAMC’s statements use line-item costing, meaning they don't distinguish between program, administrative, and fundraising costs. Ci allocated each line item to the bucket it best fits, but as a result, program costs are likely overstated while administrative and fundraising costs are understated. This means overhead spending is likely understated and cents to the cause is likely overstated.
In F2025, CAMC earned $17.1m in revenue; 94% of which ($16.1m) came from donations.
Administrative costs are 2% of revenues (less investment income). Fundraising costs are 1% of donations. Total overhead is 4%. For every dollar donated to CAMC, 96 cents are available for programs. This is within Ci's reasonable range.
In F2025, CAMC spent $12.8m on its international programs (75% of total revenue), $2.2m on its Canadian programs (13% of total revenue), and distributed $314k in grants (2% of total revenue). It recorded a $1.2m surplus and spent $117k on capital projects.
CAMC has $4.8m in reserve funds (cash and investments). The reserves can cover 32%, or roughly four months of program costs.
