OVERVIEW
About TakingITGlobal:
TakingITGlobal is a 4-star charity. It is financially transparent, has an above-average results reporting grade of B+, and demonstrates a need for funding. However, it has low reported overhead costs that are outside of Ci's reasonable range.
Founded in 1999, TakingITGlobal (TIG) aims to engage and connect youth to create a more inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable world. TakingITGlobal considers people age 15 to 30 as youth. TIG runs three main programs: Facilitating Connected Learning; Supporting Youth Action & Social Innovation; and Fostering Creativity & Digital Skills. TIG reports that these programs were 57%, 33%, and 10% of total spending, respectively.
TakingITGlobal’s Facilitating Connected Learning Program helps teachers provide interactive learning experiences. Under this program, Connected North brings these experiences to remote Indigenous communities. Teachers can access virtual learning experiences and other resources to help engage students. These include virtual field trips, virtual career fairs, cultural exchanges, and teacher learning. In F2022, TIG ran this program in 130 schools, including 16 schools that started using the program during the year. There were 6,560 Connected North Sessions in F2022. Connected North had 914 active teachers during the year. TIG also provides Digital Inclusion Grants that give laptops to Indigenous students. In F2022, it provided 1,584 laptops.
In its Supporting Youth Action & Social Innovation program, TakingITGlobal supports youth through grants, fellowships, and digital learning opportunities. It aims to help youth create sustainable solutions for their communities. Through its Rising Youth grants, it has supported over 7,000 projects since 2018. In F2022, its Connected North Youth Leadership Fund gave 28 community project grants, 11 gathering grants, five travel grants, and one equipment loan. Under this program area, TIG supports Commit2Act. Commit2Act allows users to record the actions they take to help fight climate change. TakingITGlobal works to update this tracking system to estimate CO2 saved by these actions. In F2022, it developed 21,739 lines of code to improve the CO2 tracker.
TakingITGlobal’s Fostering Creativity & Digital Skills program helps youth build digital skills and confidence to be creators. Its Create to Learn platform is a free online learning platform that teaches digital skills and traditional knowledge. Its online tools are created by First Nations, Métis and Inuit artists. In F2022, it had 353 Create to Learn skill development videos. Code to Learn helps students and teachers learn coding and robotics. 22,203 students participated in the program in F2022 as well as 1,660 teachers.

Reported fundraising costs are 2% of donations and reported administrative costs are 1% of revenues (less investment income). Total reported overhead spending is 3%. This is a new charity profile that has been sent to TakingITGlobal for review. Changes and edits may be forthcoming.
