Founded in 1981, Surrey Food Bank Society (Surrey Food Bank) provides food to families living in Surrey and North Delta, BC. Surrey Food Bank also partners with community services and organizations, to help its clients become self-sufficient. These include Surrey Libraries, Centre for Child Development and Fraser Health.
The charity’s main program is Food Distribution. It also runs more specialized programs, such as Tiny Bundles, Seniors Distribution and Hamper to Your Home. Surrey Food Bank does not disclose how much it spends on each program.
The charity’s Food Distribution program operates out of four depot centres. In F2022, it reports that it provided 35,542 food hampers to families in Surrey and North Delta, reaching over 129,786 residents. Of these, 43% were children and 10% were over 65 years of age. The program provided 2,402 toddler totes and 5,270 pre-k packages and distributed 10,616 diapers in F2022. The charity reports that its Hampers to Home program saw a 25% increase in use from F2021 to F2022.
