About Beth Oloth Charitable Organization:

Established in 1980, Beth Oloth Charitable Organization’s purpose, according to its CRA T3010 filing, is “to stimulate interest in providing higher Jewish education and Jewish religious training for the perpetuation of the Jewish religion and the training of teachers of Jewish religion.”

CHARITY STATUS REVOKED: January 12, 2019 Charities Directorate revoked the charity status on Beth Oloth. This is the 4th Major 100 Canadian charity to be revoked since 2011. The Major 100 are Canada's largest publicly-supported charities. The Charities Directorate's audit investigation found it had funded non-charitable activities, see Global News for more information.

The Charities Directorate's documents on the audit process identify associations between Beth Oloth and Gates of Mercy, another large charity Charity Intelligence has a donor advisory on. Beth Oloth's American operations continue.

Previously reported DONOR ADVISORY: Beth Oloth Charitable Organization does not have a website and does not report any full-time employees. However, it does report 2 part-time employees who were paid an average of $3,938 in F2015. All information in this report was gathered through the charity’s T3010 filing and unaudited financial statements provided by the CRA.

According to its F2015 financial statements, Beth Oloth Charitable Organization spent $40.3m on undisclosed “charitable distributions” and granted $2.6m to 149 other charities. The 3 largest charitable grants were to KH Meoroth ($207,560 in F2015), Congregation Beth Medrash Covoha ($194,432), and Yeshiva Yesodei Hatorah ($175,635). The charity’s T3010 filing indicates that $38.5m of its “charitable distributions” were distributed to individuals and organizations outside of Canada.
