OVERVIEW

About Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation:

Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation is a 2-star charity. It follows best practices in financial transparency and has reasonable overhead costs. However, it has a low results reporting grade and large funding reserves that can cover average granting for 5 years. Before you give, read Charity Intelligence's report.

Founded in 1983, Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation (SCHF) raises funds to support the work of Saskatoon City Hospital. In F2021, SCHF granted $1.6m to Saskatoon City Hospital. The hospital had 142,219 visits and procedures during the year. This included 68,712 outpatient visits, 21,193 emergency visits, and 5,611 inpatients.

In F2021, the foundation funded the purchase of a new ophthalmologic microscope for eye surgeries, a new procedure bed, and a fluoroscopy machine. It also helped fund a new cart utensil washer and two new steam sterilizers for its Medical Device Reprocessing department. It funded a new cystoscopy table for procedures like endoscopic urology as well as three new video tower stacks, three anesthetic gas machines, and three monitors. This equipment is used in surgical procedures. In 2021, funding from the foundation helped support two new geriatrician fellows at Saskatoon City Hospital.

More recently in 2022, the foundation funded the purchase of a new EyeSi Surgical Simulator. The simulator is a model of a patient’s head and eye that helps ophthalmology residents learn and practice surgeries. The foundation also helped pay for a Sonesta S3 table used for gynecology, cytology, and urology procedures.

Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation also supports the Cameco MS Neuroscience Research Centre. The Centre has 70 principal investigators, research fellows, grad students, technicians, and support staff.
