OVERVIEW

About Camp Quality:

Camp Quality is a 2-star rated charity with an above-average results reporting score and Low demonstrated impact. It is financially transparent and has overhead costs within Ci’s reasonable range.

Founded in 1988, Camp Quality (CQ) provides camp experiences to children with cancer and blood disorders, and their family members. Camp Quality Canada is a branch of the international Camp Quality family. The charity states that children miss out on learning, exploring, and playing while undergoing cancer treatment. CQ’s guiding belief is that although it cannot control the quantity of life, it can improve the quality of life for kids with cancer. Camp Quality runs overnight camps, community programs (Fun Days), family camps, a leadership program, and Camp-at-Home. CQ does not provide a spending breakdown by program in F2022.

CQ’s summer camps run for one week per year at six locations across Canada. The charity offers four camps in Ontario, one in Alberta, and one in Manitoba. Each camper is matched with a trained adult volunteer. Campers and their companions participate in various activities, including swimming, arts & crafts, canoeing, and archery. CQ works with a medical team to ensure that a registered nurse or doctor is always on site.

Camp Quality’s New Heights program offers in-person camps and virtual meet-ups for teenagers aged 14 to 17 that focus on building leadership skills.

During the pandemic, the charity launched a virtual program, Camp-at-Home, for children aged 4-17. Camp Quality mails out activities to family homes and runs programming through Zoom. In F2022, the charity returned to in-person camps while continuing its virtual programming.
