About Salvation Army Yellowknife:

Founded in 1981, Salvation Army Yellowknife Corps is a member of Salvation Army Canada, which “exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs, and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.” Salvation Army Yellowknife Corps operates in three locations: Bailey House (transitional housing), a resource centre, and a thrift store. Bailey House is a 32-bed transitional home for men that helps with literacy, addiction, faith, well-being and disease prevention, relapse prevention, kitchen skills, anger management, and building healthy relationships and self-esteem. The resource centre offers various programs and services including a food bank, life-skills classes, Christmas assistance, and more. The thrift store sells low cost clothing and other items.

Salvation Army Yellowknife Corps is a ­­­­small charity, with total donations and special events revenues of $741k in F2018. Administrative costs are 9% of revenues (excluding investment income) and fundraising costs are less than 1% of donations. For every dollar donated, 91 cents go to the cause.
