OVERVIEW

About Canadian Hard of Hearing Association Newfoundland and Labrador:

Canadian Hard of Hearing Association Newfoundland and Labrador is a 1-star charity with a below-average results reporting grade. It has overhead costs within Ci’s reasonable range and its reserve funds can cover almost four years of annual program costs.

Founded in 1983, Canadian Hard of Hearing Association Newfoundland and Labrador (CHHA-NL) works to improve the quality of life for hard-of-hearing people of all ages in the province. Outside of providing services to improve the quality of life for people living with hearing loss, the charity also focuses on advocacy, awareness, accessibility, and the prevention of hearing loss.

To achieve its mission, CHHA-NL offers a wide array of services to the public, including hearing loss consultations, a loan program for hearing assistive devices, speech-reading and lip-reading classes, educational programs and presentations, and grants and scholarships. The charity also runs its ARC Achievement Program for hard-of-hearing youth in grades 10-12 to prepare them for life after school.

In F2022, the charity provided approximately 700 hours of individual client services, with around 1,800 client interactions. CHHA-NL also granted five scholarships worth $1,000 each.
