OVERVIEW
About Seeds of Hope:
Seeds of Hope is a 3-star charity with Fair demonstrated impact. Its overhead costs are outside of Ci’s reasonable range. The charity’s reserves can cover program costs for just under seven months, which is within Ci’s reasonable range.
Founded in 1996, Seeds of Hope (SOH) is a Christian international aid charity. SOH manages children’s homes in Zambia, Thailand, and Myanmar. In Zambia, it runs Grace Academy, which is a boarding school for orphaned children. The charity’s programs focus on those affected by HIV/AIDS or human trafficking. SOH spent $2.4m on its programs in 2024. It did not break down spending by program.
In Zambia, SOH runs Grace Academy and Buseko Children’s Home. Grace Academy is a boarding school that goes from Kindergarten to Grade 12. It has 244 students, of which 145 are residents and 99 are day students. The academy has a farming initiative that grows crops to feed the children, and any extra food is sold to staff at a discounted rate. Buseko Children’s Home is located in Grace Academy. It houses children under the age of six who are affected by AIDS.
In Thailand, the charity runs Rays of Hope. The project includes Nuu Rain, Baan Isara and Baan Un Rak, and supporting Hill Tribe women. Nuu Rain houses ten HIV-affected women and their children. Baan Isara, for girls, and Baan Un Rak, for boys, house 15 children under the age of ten who have been rescued from human trafficking. Hill Tribe women are considered stateless in Thailand and therefore have no rights. SOH supports them with food, shelter, and basic care.
In Myanmar, SOH runs Precious Gems Home. It houses children affected by AIDS. The charity does not report how many children it supports.

Results and Impact
Students at Grace Academy took Zambia’s national examinations. In 2024, all 15 Grade 7 students passed the exam. 17 Grade 9 students took the exam and 14 passed, which is an 82% pass rate. Of the 18 Grade 12 students who wrote the exam, 17 passed. That is a 94% pass rate. Grace Academy was recognized as the number one school in the city of Ndola based on these results. While Ci highlights these results, they may not completely reflect SOH's results and impact.
Seeds of Hope is rated Fair for demonstrated impact per dollar spent.

Finances
Seeds of Hope’s audited financial statements follow line-item costing, which is not a best practice. Ci had to refer to the charity’s T3010 filings with the CRA to report program, fundraising, and administration costs. The charity received $2.5m in donations in 2024, which is 97% of revenue. It received $40k in investment income.
SOH spent $2.4m on program costs in 2024, which is 93% of revenue. The charity ran a surplus of $64k. It spent $80k on fundraising, which is 3% of revenue, and $18k on administration, which is 1% of revenue. In 2023, the charity reported $497k in administration, so the $18k may be understated. For every dollar donated to the charity, 96 cents are available to go to the cause. This is outside of Ci’s reasonable range.
The charity has $1.4m in its reserves (cash and investments), which can cover program costs for just under seven months. This is within Ci’s reasonable range.
