OVERVIEW
About Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at Canada:
Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada is a 0-star charity. It is not financially transparent and has poor disclosure with an F results reporting grade. It holds reserves within Ci’s reasonable range. For every dollar donated to Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada, 87 cents are available to go to the cause.
Founded in 1996, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at Canada (AMJC) is the Canadian branch of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at (AMJ). AMJ is a movement within Islam founded in India in 1889. Its followers believe that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian was the Promised Messiah and Mahdi. The movement is now headquartered in the United Kingdom and reports a presence in 202 countries, with membership in the tens of millions. Since its founding, AMJ reports building 5,000 mosques, 500 schools, 30 hospitals, and translating the Quran into more than 60 languages. None of these figures represent AMJC's own work.
AMJC's objectives are the advancement of the Islamic faith as taught by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and interpreted by his successors, the training and engagement of missionaries to preach the Quran, the advancement of religious and secular education and research, and the relief of people in financial need, hardship, or poor health, including victims of war and natural disaster. AMJC states that it also endorses the separation of religion and state, universal human rights, and education and empowerment for women. The charity is based in Vaughan, Ontario.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at Canada hosts an annual convention, Jalsa Salana. Believers gather to pray, welcome new members, and remember those who recently passed away. Jalsa Salana is a three-day event with tens of thousands in attendance each year.
AMJC also operates the Ahmadiyya Parliamentary Friendship Group. This committee works with several Members of Parliament to raise awareness about human rights violations and freedom of religion worldwide.
AMJC hosts annual community and fundraising events, including Canada Day celebrations, Run for Canada, and Muslims for Remembrance. The charity reports that 65 of its chapters hold Canada Day events. The largest are in Calgary, with over 10,000 attendees, and Vaughan, with approximately 5,000.

Finances
AMJC is not financially transparent, meaning the charity does not post its audited financial statements on its website. Ci obtained them through Corporations Canada.
AMJC's statements follow line-item costing, meaning they do not separate program, administrative, and fundraising costs. This is not a best practice. Ci allocated the line items as best fits. The allocation likely overstates program costs and understates administrative and fundraising costs. Reported overhead is therefore likely understated, and cents to the cause overstated.
In the fiscal year ending June 2025 (F2025), AMJC earned $34.2m in revenue. It received $32.9m in donations (96% of total revenue) and $1.1m in investment income (3% of total revenue).
Administrative costs are 13% of revenues (less investment income). The charity does not report fundraising costs. Total overhead is 13%. For every dollar donated to AMJC, 87 cents are available for programs. This is within Ci's reasonable range.
In F2025, AMJC spent $26.4m on programs, or 77% of total revenue. It recorded a $2.8m surplus and spent $4.4m on capital projects.
AMJC has $23.7m in reserve funds (cash and investments). The reserves can cover 90% or roughly 11 months of program costs.
This charity update has been sent to AMJC for review. Changes and edits may be forthcoming. Updated by Nick Reszetnik on July 30, 2026.
