Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada is a 5-star charity. It has above average disclosure with an A+ results reporting grade. It holds reserves within Ci’s reasonable range. For every dollar donated to Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, 82 cents are available to go to the cause.

Founded in 1929, BGC Canada is the national umbrella charity for a federation of local Boys and Girls Clubs across the country. BGC Canada supports its member Clubs through national grants, training, and program coordination. Clubs provide safe, supportive spaces during out-of-school hours where children and youths build confidence, form relationships, and develop life skills. Club programming spans STEM and digital literacy, physical fitness and sports, mental health and wellness, arts, child care, before- and after-school programs, scholarships and job readiness, crime prevention, and food security.

The charity reports that 25% of children across Canada live in food-insecure households. It also reports that 1.2 million children and youths in Canada are affected by mental illness. Many young Canadians face a difficult transition into adulthood, with youth unemployment at 14.6%, the highest rate since 2010. On top of this, more than 7 in 10 young people have been exposed to online hate and violence.

Ci pulled data from the charity's T3010 filing with the CRA to determine its expenses. In the fiscal year ending December 2025, the charity spent $5.7m on charitable activities and distributed $5.1m in grants.

In 2025, 665 Club locations served 166,695 children and youths across every province and the Yukon. Of these, 47% were aged 6 to 12, 24% were aged 13 to 21, 15% were five and under, 11% were 29 and older, and 3% were 22 to 28. Clubs served 8,109,366 healthy meals and snacks over the year.

In 2025, BGC Canada expanded its MyBGC and MyBGCU learning platforms. It added 11 youth programs on employment, mental health, and financial literacy. It also added five staff programs, nine engagement activities, and 11 live events, along with 39 platform enhancements. BGC Club Day, its national awareness day, reached over 3.3 million people on social media.

Ci consolidated the finances of BGC Canada with those of its associated Foundation. Donations from the Foundation to the operating charity were excluded from revenues and expenses. BGC Canada henceforth refers to the combined financials from both charities.

In 2025, BGC Canada earned $16.4m in revenue. It received $10.0m in donations (61% of total revenue) and $3.3m in government funding (20% of total revenue).

BGC Canada reports fundraising and administrative costs combined. Fundraising and administrative costs are 18% of revenues. For every dollar donated to BGC Canada, 82 cents are available for programs. This is within Ci's reasonable range.

In 2025, BGC Canada spent $6.6m on programs (41% of total revenue) and distributed $5.1m in grants (31% of total revenue). It recorded a $1.9m surplus and spent $109k on capital projects.

BGC Canada has $15.4m in reserve funds (cash and investments). The reserves can cover 131%, or roughly one year and four months of program costs.

BGC Canada Foundation holds 30% of its investments in alternative assets. These include short positions, forward currency contracts and options, social impact bonds and loans, and private equity partnerships.
