Finances
Jays Care Foundation’s audited financial statements follow activity-based costing, a best practice. This means its expenses are clearly defined between program, administrative, and fundraising categories.
In F2024 Jays Care received $7.5m in donations and special events fundraising. It also received $9.5m in net lottery revenues (50% of total revenue). Jays Care Foundation reports government funding in its T3010 but not in its audited financial statements. The most recent T3010 filing available at the time of this update was from F2023. As such, Ci reports government funding in F2023 and F2022 but not F2024.
Administrative costs are 5% of revenues (excluding investment income). Fundraising costs are 29% of donations. This results in total overhead spending of 34%. For every dollar donated, 66 cents are available to go to the cause. This falls within Ci’s reasonable range for overhead spending.
In F2024 Jays Care spent $17.2m on its programs and grants, which is 91% of its revenue. In F2024 it had a deficit of $1.2m.
Jays Care Foundation has $24.7m in reserve funds (cash and investments). Excluding $100k in donor-endowed funds, the net funding reserves can cover 143%, or one year and five months of program costs.
