OVERVIEW

About Montréal Sacré-Coeur Hospital Foundation:

Montréal Sacré-Coeur Hospital Foundation is a 2-star charity. It has a C Results Reporting grade, which is below average. Its overhead spending is outside of Ci’s reasonable range. The charity’s reserves can cover program costs for over 18 years, which is well outside of Ci’s reasonable range.

Founded in 1976, Montréal Sacré-Coeur Hospital Foundation (MSCHF) raises money for Montreal Sacré-Coeur Hospital and Albert-Prévost Mental Health Hospital. Sacré-Coeur Hospital had around 65,000 emergency room visits and 20,000 hospital admissions in 2024. Albert-Prévost had 3,380 emergency room visits and 1,300 hospital admissions. The charity grants funds to the hospitals to purchase equipment, support researchers, and train medical students. MSCHF granted $4.3m to the hospitals in 2024.

Sacré-Coeur Hospital purchased a new ultrasound machine, 16 fetal monitors, and a mobile incubator for the Family Birthing Centre. The hospital upgraded an ultrasound system by purchasing two X8-2t transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) probes. These are mostly used in heart surgery.

The charity reports that Sacré-Coeur Hospital has roughly 200 regular and associate researchers. It highlights two research projects in its 2024 annual report. Dr. Jean-Samuel Boudreault Pedneault is researching new drugs and treatments for multiple myeloma cancer. Dr. Bernard Lespérance is leading a project that collects and centralizes data from thousands of cancer patients. Each year, around 3,000 patients are added to the database.

The charity funded Sacré-Coeur Hospital’s purchase of two patient simulators. They cost $142k in total. The mannequins are used to train students in complex clinical scenarios.
